Day 23: Newcastle

We arrived via train to Newcastle at around 8pm. We saw on the news that there were huge floods in London while we were in sunny, York, so we obviously picked the right weekend to "holiday." (Wow, I sound so British, I love it).

Newcastle is basically made up entirely of bridges and hills. Not just any hills, but steep steep hills with roads and winding turns. We had to walk 15 minutes up a massive hill with our luggage to make it to our hostel. Oh, and the hostel was sketch. We had weird vibes, but also a private room, so we just decided to make the most of the night.

Night out on the town, we hit up a fun bar. Going out in London, we never find any food places open past midnight, but in Newcastle, everything was open until 5am. Well, pizza and kebabs. Apparently, Newcastle is lit. We met so many friendly people and have come to the conclusion that the cool kids on the block are actually from a small town outside of the city :-)

This morning in Newcastle, we explored, and walked through the entire town at least twice before getting a yummy breakfast at Quay.

We explored the bridges and the beauty of the town.

Before our train to Scotland, we hit up Grainger market, and I had pizza and cake. My favorite meal. So nutritious. The most interesting part about being in Newcastle was the specialty of its date. Yesterday, when in York, the famous referendum was taking place. Those in favor of keeping Britain within the European Union filled the streets of York with the idea of "X-ing Brexit." London was pretty populated in this idea as well. Those against staying within, aka for Brexit, actually had a high number in Newcastle. It was interesting to go from one city to the next, seeing the culture change within one day.

The news came out early that morning in Newcastle, and everyone was so excited. Newcastle was actually the most popular in votes for region with the most votes for Brexit. Ironically enough, we were next headed on our way to the country with the most against Brexit, almost unanimously: Scotland.

Edinburgh, here we come...

CHEERS!
