This "holiday" just keeps getting better and better. Edinburgh is so bloody cool. There are alleyways, more steep hills, and beautiful greenery across the sea. We're staying in another Safe Stay hostel, but this one has a bar downstairs, Bar 50, with drink deals for us broke students right in the middle of town. I think we're going to like it here...
We headed out to breakfast, and apparently the dish to try was the black pudding, but no thanks. Then, we made our way to Edinburgh Castle. On our way over, we saw #LoveIsLove street art in response to the Orlando shooting that had just taken place back in the states. It's remarkable to see how quickly people respond and show love for the world after such a tragedy.
The castle was incredible. There's so much history and beautiful sights in just one spot; it was impossible to take it all in in one day.
Of course, I wanted to collect some goodies, so we bought some souvenirs consisting of shortbread Scottie dogs & a red plaid scarf resembling some print of a famous Scottish clan... I should know which one, but I honestly just liked the color. YAY SCOTTISH SCARVES (stay tuned for a photo tomorrow). Also, this was my first purchase of a red item in a country. I'm thinking it'll be my new trend: to collect a red object from every country I travel to. Let's see how that pans out.
We ended our night at the bar drinking the famous Porty Pink Drink & icing one another. Julia had never been iced before, so I had the bartender, who was unbelievably confused on what was happening (rightfully so), bring it over to her on a tray to then... ice her. Typical Arizona kids ;-)
