Day 22: When in York, the Storybook

Last night was interesting. I stayed in my hostel for my very first time, and it was... purple. It was actually really nice for what I expected. I envisioned hostels to be very old run down castle-style buildings with 25 old rickety wooden beds in one small room that creak in the night and have tons of spider webs and witch drawings on them. Spooky I know.

Well, actually ours was very hip and modern with cute purple curtains to put around your bed so you have privacy. It felt like a childhood sleepover with a fort so like, I'm down. There were also metal cages to lock our luggage in which was convenient. We had fun. Hostels aren't scary. Confirmed by Brookie. However, don't buy in on the breakfast in the morning because it's probably just going to be pieces of toast, sliced ham from the market, a boiled egg, and dry cereal.

We walked around York all day today and did so many lovely, beautiful things.

I bought 200g of fudge for my sweet tooth in all of the greatest flavors. I'm surprised I don't have diabetes to be honest.

We went souvenir shopping in the Shambles of the English Village. It reminded me so much of home. Today really made me appreciate my own English Village of my hometown so much more after getting to see the real deal of where it was based on in England. I felt like I was walking in a fairytale storybook. If you know me well enough, you know this is basically a dream come true.

Here's a cute little alleyway we found hidden beyond the streets.

We stopped for tea and treats at the most adorable cafe. This woman owns her own cupcake shop and it's decorated so cute. She wakes up every morning at 5am to make freshly baked cupcakes for the day to sell. She was sweeter than her cupcakes and told me her favorite flavor / recipe is her American Peanut Butter. So cute, I can't.

Erin decided to live her dream of holding an owl, and we spent about 30 minutes watching her face light up like so. V Harry Potter-esque.

York was the most charming town I had ever seen, and it was filled with so much love. It was nice to be in a different area of England -- everyone was incredibly friendly, except for the spiders. (There were spiders everywhere. I'm going to believe it's because the town is so ancient, and that's just like the thing for spiders -- go somewhere old idk)

Tonight we take a train to our next destination: Newcastle, England.

CHEERS!
